We are very proud to announce the success of the ‘Make a Difference – Work For Your Local Council’ campaign at the PPMA (Public Service People Managers’ Association) Excellence in People Management Awards 2025.

The collaborative nature and continuing partnerships of the North East local authorities were once again highlighted and chosen as this years’ winner, along with LGA and Solace, for the award of ‘Best Partnership / Collaboration’.

Receiving a second award for this campaign has been another significant validation of the huge efforts from all parties who worked collaboratively and shows the future of the campaign is without limits as it rolls out nationally.

The PPMA judges had the following to say of the project:
“This incredible partnership has shown how public sector bodies can break down traditional boundaries to work seamlessly and collaboratively, delivering more integrated and efficient services.  Congratulations to NEREO, LGA, and Solace for showing us the true power of partnership and collaboration!”

NEREO Chair, Cllr Ann McCoy:
“This, of course, comes after winning a Local Government Chronicle (LGC) award last year in their “Best Innovation in Recruitment” Category and is just recognition for the vision, innovation and hard work from all involved.  I’m sure you will join me in congratulating NEREO, LGA and Solace, and pass on our sincere thanks to all involved.”

NEREO would like to once again thank all parties who were involved in the design, development and roll out of the project.  It could not have been achieved without everyone giving it their all, and the 12 councils in the region giving it their full backing.

This second award reinforces the strength of what the sector can achieve when we work together and step forward as one united team.

NEREO wishes to express their gratitude to PPMA and the judges for their recognition of the efforts made and the significant outcomes that were achieved.
