COUNTY DURHAM & CLEVELAND COUNTY TRAINING PARTNERSHIP

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Aim: The overall aim of the County Training Partnership is to enhance the professionalism of the Town and Parish Council Sector through the provision of high quality learning and development activities.

Objectives:

To create a positive culture of learning  and development within the Town and Parish Council Sector.

To provide learning and development opportunities for clerks, staff and councillors.

To give advice and guidance to Town and Parish Councils on learning and development issues.

To provide appropriate learning and development activity in response to local and national initiatives, for example Quality Parish Status.

To provide a framework of academic, vocational and professional qualifications for all staff employed within Town and Parish Councils.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARTNERS

NEREO is the lead partner and provides the lead officer who will; act as the main contact for the CTP; provide administrative support for the partnership and AQA certificate and will manage the CTP finances.

All Partner organisations will be actively involved in the Training and Development of Clerks, Councillors and Town and Parish Council staff and assisting Councils share best practice.

The Society of Local Council Clerks will lead on the development of mentoring networks for Clerks and the County Associations for mentoring networks for Councillors.

New College Durham will lead on providing a framework of academic, vocational and professional qualifications for all staff employed within Town and Parish Councils.

The CTP will seek to involve the County and District Councils in the provision of training activity and other organisations as appropriate.
