Each module of
the programme includes a number of assessed assignments associated with it.
There are four
types of assessed assignment.
-
Foundation Assignments
These provide a quick check on the learners understanding of key ideas
in each workbook. There are several Foundation Assignments for each
workbook, and the learner must complete them all.
The
Foundation Assignments for each module should all be submitted together, as a
batch, to the workbook tutor.
Applied Assignments
These are more demanding pieces of work.
They usually require the learner to apply some of the ideas from the workbook
to their own job. One Applied
Assignment will probably take as much time to complete as five or six
Foundation Assignments. Many of the
Applied Assignments are linked to the Management Standards at NVQ Level 4.
There are
several Applied Assignments for each workbook. Participants must choose one or two from the selection - depending on
the workbook. Normally, participants
will complete the Foundation Assignments for the module, and have these
returned marked satisfactory, before completing and submitting the Applied
Assignment.
-
Management Learning Contracts
A Management
Learning Contract (MLC) is a formal, written agreement between a learner, their
line manager, and a trainer, setting out what will be learned, how it will be
learned, and how that learning will be assessed.
There are two
Management Learning Contracts in the Personal Effectiveness module. They should
focus on skills and improvements that will help the learner to become a better
manager. Many participants have found the MLCs to be the most rewarding parts
of the programme.
-
Learning Review Report
The Learning
Review Report is made up of six Reviews. At the end of each module,
participants are required to reflect on what they have learned from the module
and write an End of Module Review. At
the end of the course, they are asked to look back over the whole programme and
reflect on what they have learned, and write an End of Course Review. This is the last piece of written work on
the programme.
To summarise:
in order to complete the programme, participants must complete the following
pieces of work to a satisfactory standard:
* Note: the End of Module Reviews are technically part of
the Personal Effectiveness Module
